Boca Grande is a small barrier island community known for its quiet streets, historic charm, and serious fishing culture. The downtown area along Park Avenue has kept much of its old Florida character, and the homes on Gasparilla Island range from modest cottages near the lighthouse end to larger waterfront properties on the bay side. The residents here tend to care a lot about property upkeep, which makes sense when you're this close to the water.
The climate here is the main reason gutters fail fast. Boca Grande sits right in the path of Southwest Florida's summer storm season. Between June and September, the island gets hammered with heavy rain on an almost daily basis. Add in the Australian pines and live oaks that drop needle-like debris year-round, and gutters clog up faster than most homeowners expect. Salt air speeds up corrosion on hardware too, so gutters that get ignored here don't last as long as they would inland.
